How to Reduce PDF File Size on Mac

Unlike DOCX or PPT files, PDF files tend to be much larger in size and often eat up your storage space. In comparison, a 1000 page DOCX file won’t take up more than 1 MB in size, while a PDF file with fewer pages can be up to 10 MB in size more.

This is very understandable considering the quality of PDF files is above other file formats and is visually better. However, you will always prefer a smaller size, right? So, today we will discuss about how to easily reduce PDF file size on Mac devices. Check this out!

The only app we need to use is Preview. Moreover, the following steps are pretty simple and easy to follow. Here they are:

  • Open the PDF file that you want to reduce its size. Make sure that you open the PDF file using the Preview app.
  • On the file display, look up at the top toolbar. From that toolbar, select “File” first, and then “Export”.
  • Besides the “Quartz Filter” option, you will see a drop-down menu. Click on it, and then select “Reduce File Size”.
  • Finally, click “Save” to confirm.
